A 22-year-old Nigerian, Wale Oginni residing in the US last Saturday, drowned in a river where he had gone to celebrate his elder sister’s 24th birthday.
Wale(pictured) had invited friends and family members including his sister, Dupe, who turned 24 to Catawba River, a few hours road trip from their North Carolina home in celebration of her birthday.
But the young man wound up in mortuary after the birthday revelers’ went sailing and he fell overboard on the cruise kayak boat.
At the time of the unfortunate incident, the deceased’s father, Mr. Lanre Oginni, who hails from Akure in Ondo State was reported to be holidaying in Nigeria.
The Oginnis according to reports relocated to US in mid 90s.
