Edo State House of Assembly has suspended three lawmakers for allegedly plotting to removed the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, Principal officers and planting charms in the House.
The suspended lawmakers are: Donald Okogbe, PDP, Akoko-Edo II, Addeh Emankhu Isibor, APC, Esan North-East I, and Iyamu Bright, PDP, Orhionnwon II.
Okogbe is a friend of impeached deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, and the only lawmaker who refused to sign the petition that led to Shaibu’s impeachment.
During their suspension, which is indefinite at a plenary on Monday, the Speaker accused the trio of bringing native doctors to the House on May 1 at around 1am to perform sacrifice.
He also alleged them of being used by external forces bidding to throw the House into chaos and effect leadership change.
In a viral video of the session, the three suspended lawmakers are seen screaming, “Mr Speaker, you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member(s) of the house.
“You must call for votes. Allow members vote on the matter.”
