Ganiyu Lawal, an independent broadcaster in Ekiti State, at the weekend was shot dead while on a hunting expedition.

Lawal was a presenter of Yoruba programmes on radio stations.
He was reportedly killed by unknown person(s) at Apepe Farm Settlement in Araromi Oke in Ekiti East Local Government Area.
The 42-year-old hailed from Igbemo, in Irepodun/Irepodun Local Government Area.
According to sources, on the fateful day, the deceased was involved in a meeting before going into the bush for hunting with the hope of returning home at 10pm.
But his family became apprehensive after he failed to return home as scheduled and raised the alarm.
It was gathered that a search party later found him dead in the bush with his gun missing, indicating that he was murdered.
A Facebook user, Bayo Victor Famoroti, in a post on Lawal’s demise wrote: “So sad….WHO kill Alfa Abdul Ganiyu Lawal an NUT and a member of FIBAN Ekiti state chapter. He was shot in Araromi beside the road in the bush. Oga o.
“The demise of this former FIBAN ELECO, very prominent and active member, Late Abduganiyu Lawal was very sad & pathetic. May Allah be with the wife and children left behind.”
