Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has urged that importance should be attached to allegation of importing poisonous substance former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai levelled against the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.

Orijoreporter recalls that El-Rufai disclosed that he belongs to a circle of people who tapped the NSA’s phone alleging that Ribadu did the same to them.

The former governor, who is under investigation for corruption also accused Ribadu with whom he served in ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration and had used to have a close tie with beyond that period, of procuring odourless poisonous substance through the Office of the NSA.

Baba-Ahmed on Tuesday on Channels Television programme, Political Paradigm, stated that all the claims should not be treated as political matters that would be dismissed but subjected to trials.

“I’d say that the simpler way to go about this is put all these allegations on the table. They are legal issues, from the allegations of corruption against Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to the allegations that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu imported, poisoned chemicals.

“All these weighty issues must be brought at the disposal of the judicial process, and we must know what the truths or otherwise of these allegations are; we cannot sweep them on the grounds that this is politics, it’s not good enough,” the former Presidential aide said.

He also accused El-Rufai of obstinacy and not picking his fight saying: “If I were to advise El-Rufai, there are so few fronts that you’d fight, so try and limit the damage, focus your attention on getting yourself cleaned up on allegations that you stole money from the people.”
