Celebrations of any kind over the just-concluded nationwide polls have been banned in Kaduna State.
The State Police Command handed down ban on victorious parties’ supporters’ reveries and political rallies on Wednesday.
The action was to prevent from raining the clouds of violence that gathered on the state’s horizon due to the contentious polls.
Mixed feelings have also trailed the results, aggravating the ill-feelings among rival parties’ faithful.
The cautious step applies to all the 23 local government areas in the state, a statement titled, General election: Ban on celebrations and rallies by political party supporters,’ and signed by state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Jalige further said.
“The Nigeria Police Force, Kaduna State Command wishes to notify the general public that all forms of celebrations and rallies by political party supporters for or against winners/losers of the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections has been banned in the State,” Jalige remarked.
The PPRO added that the police are on the alert, and would not look the other way on wilful violation of the ban or causing breakdown of law and order under whatever guise.
