A former lightweight boxer, Moses Olapade (56), has been arrested by the police for allegedly beating his wife into a coma in Akure, Ondo State.

Report said the incident happened at No 9, Odamo Street, Oke-Aro community in Akure South LGA.

Olapade, now a truck driver, was said to have returned home from a journey when in dispute over TV remote control with the wife, Atinuke, reportedly punched her into unconsciousness.

Trouble reportedly emanated when the suspect, an ex-Lagos State boxer, demanded the remote from the 44-year-old to which she declined and consequently incurring his anger and a bit of his past trade.

The beating made her passed out, with the neighbours coming to her rescue after their children ran out of the house to notify them(neighbours).

The abusive husband in turn has been arrested and in police custody.
