Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, is of the view the name, Nigeria, elicited too many bad memories and there is a need to change it.
Moghalu asserted this on Twitter in a series of tweets, saying if the country takes a new name, and a fresh breath of governance is birthed, the country would be heading in the right direction.
“I agree with those who argue that that Nigeria needs a change of name. “If a serious leadership emerges in 2023 and we can agree on a name that has deep meaning that can unite the country, it would be a powerful symbolism. Backed with good governance,it can give Nigeria new life
“The name Nigeria conjures too many bad memories. ‘Wazobia’? ‘Songhai’?”
The former CBN deputy governor’s suggestion gained traction with many netizens in the thread.
