Abdullahi Bala Muhammed, son of the immediate past Federal Capital Territory minister, Senator Bala Muhammed, has been arrested for fraud after he allegedly shortchanged the Nigeria Customs Service in the import duty he paid on his exotic vehicle, a McClaren 650s coupe.
Abdullahi was detained at the Ikeja office of Customs on Saturday after it was discovered that he paid N300,000 as tax for a McLaren luxury car instead of the valued N124m .
Findings revealed that McLaren car is sold for $3m (about N850m).
It was gathered that Abudullahi was released from detention after he promised to pay the difference, N123.7 million duties.
Investigation by OrijoReporter further revealed that the 25-year-old has a not-so-secret attraction to cars, and amassed quite a collection.
It was further gathered that Abdullahi Bala Muhammed is the president of an automobile racing club, Corsa Motorsports Club, Abuja, and most of his cars are for racing and stunts, and not designed for city drive.
