The vitriol that trailed discovery that ex-governor Abiola Ajimobi pardoned female lawyer , Yewande Oyediran, who was sentenced to seven years in prison for killing her husband, Lowo, has drawn the comment of  the  then Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Seun Abimbola.

Oyediran, an official of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, was in November 2017 convicted of manslaughter for killing her husband after fight broke out between the couple at their residence in Akobo area of Ibadan on February 2, 2016.

It at the weekend came into the open that Ajimobi while in office granted the convict state pardon midway into the completion of her term, a discovery which sparked outrage against the ex-governor.

In an interview Abimbola granted Punchng.com, the ex-Attorney General of the State under whose nose the pardon took place has defended his former principal’s action.

Abimbola told the paper: “The lady in question is just one out of 50 who were pardoned. And the 50 who were pardoned were drawn out of 400 who were considered. So, she was not singled out as some are insinuating. Even the prisons authorities brought recommendations on the good behaviour of those pardoned.”
