A female staff of the University of Benin, who was recently dismissed assaulted the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Osayuki Oshodin last Friday when she ambushed him around his office, and held his groin, insisting he must reinstate her.
The visibly embarrassed Columbia University of New York, USA-trained physical health educationist was so agitated that he immediately summoned staff and security personnel working in his office to a crucial meeting.
The VC, who personally told newsmen about the incident in his office, said: “I was shocked because she would have shot me dead if she had a gun. She would have also blown up everybody around if she was a suicide bomber. I was shocked how she came into my office, though the management is investigating the matter now.”
It would be recalled that Prof. Oshodin suffered suspected food poison in May and was flown abroad for medical treatment.
Rumour was rife then that he had been incapacitated due to the ill-health and therefore would be replaced with a substantive acting VC to complete the remaining months of his tenure.
