Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the upcoming Ondo State gubernatorial election.

Jegede scored 888 votes to defeat the deputy governor Hon Agboola Ajayi, who scored 657 votes. Prior to his victory at the International Conference Centre, Dome), a man simply identified as Lateef Balogun, was arrested at the venue.

Balogun’s sin was that he was allegedly in possession of fake ballot sheets to be used for the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The suspect, who claimed to be chief, was arrested following a tip-off.

He was believed to be working for one of the leading aspirants contesting the election.
