It has emerged that the policeman, who fired bullets that hit former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, and five others during the reception for Dr. Kayode Fayemi, All Progressive Congress’ candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State is presently attached to Lagos State Police Command.

The trigger-happy-cop, according to Gov. Ayodele Fayose, accompanied Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu to the reception, a claim, which suggested that the policemen, whose identity was yet to be released as of press time, is attached to Ondo State Police Command.
However, contrary to the governor’s claim and reports making the rounds that the shooter was a fake policeman, a police source told our correspondent that the man is truly a police officer attached to MOPOL 20 in Lagos.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the issue, explained that the man accompanied a politician from Lagos to the reception saying he was on illegal duty.
His action which drew him fire as he was beaten to a pulp by mob, also landed him in hospital where he was later transferred to Ekiti State Police Command and he was said to be undergoing interrogation for possible prosecution.
