The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested one Salman Umar Hudu, for parading himself as its Executive Chairman.
The chairman of the agency is Abdulrasheed Bawa.
A statement by the EFCC’s Head Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, on Tuesday, said that Hudu, a 38-year-old indigene of Kano, was arrested at a hotel in Abuja.
He was accused of falsely presenting himself as “EFCC Chairman and other officers of the Commission, and obtaining N100,000 from a person he convinced that he can ‘handle’ any matter with the EFCC”.
According to Uwujaren, the suspect has given the anti-graft agency useful information and will be charged after its investigation has been concluded.
