A housewife has confessed to extramarital affairs with several men after her husband dragged her before an Iseyin Customary Court in Oyo State seeking for the dissolution of their fifteen year-old marriage on infidelity ground.
A farmer, Muraina Adisa, took his wife, Temitope before the court over the paternity of three out of their four children, and the case came up for hearing early in the week.
The 48-year-old told the court that they had been married for about 15 years with four children aged 15, 13, 10 and seven.
But seeking the dissolution of the union on the grounds of his wife’s unfaithfulness, Muraina said he reliably gathered that three of the children were not his own.
“I know the first born is mine, but I can’t say the same for others. They look so much like my wife’s lovers.
“She does not even know what it means to be a married woman as she sleeps around with neighbours and all kinds of men.
“Already, I have become a laughing stock among my friends and family members; I have been reliably informed that the three children are not mine.
“I asked her to swear by the god of iron that the children are mine but she ran out of the house, ’’ Muraina said.
He prayed the court to dissolve the union in the interest of peace and harmony.
Temitope, however, denied the allegation, saying the three children were for her husband.
Temitope, who admitted having lovers, said: “I know and I can swear with anything available that all the four children are for Muraina.
“I started having lovers of recent because he also began to sleep around the neighborhood and would be away for about five days. I have to make myself happy,“ she said.
In his ruling, president of the court, Mr Raimi Oyegbenle, ordered the estranged couple to be present in court with their parents and family members at the next adjourned date.
He expressed optimism that the crisis would be resolved amicably with the help of family members.
Oyegbenle adjourned further hearing on the matter till Monday.
