FEMALE ROAD-SHOW PROMOTERS REMANDED IN PRISON FOR INDECENT DRESSING

Sixteen members of a road-show group promoting a popular foam mattress brand (name withheld) have been held on remand in Kano after they were accused of indecent dressing.

Their arrest and subsequent trial was made known by the Kano State Censorship Board in a statement issued and signed by the Principal Public Relations Officer of the Board, Balarabe Musa Muhd, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Dahiru Beli.

According to Beli, the 16 promoters were arrested at Tudun Wada area of the state, for alleged indecent dressing, among other offences, while they were doing road show.

He said their action contravened the provision of section 94 sub-section D of Kano State Censorship Board law 2001.

Alhaji Bali added that the accused persons were on Thursday, charged with nudity, indecent exhibition, illegal show and noise-making without official permission, appeared before the court of the board.

The accused persons were, however, ordered to be kept in prison till September 10, 2014 adjournment date, by the Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Khalil, for failure to meet up with the condition of bail.
