The federal government said it would only reconsider its closure of the land borders if neighbouring countries meet some conditions.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Godfrey Onyema shared the conditions on Monday at the end of a committee meeting.

Onyema listed the conditions to include the respect by ECOWAS countries of the rules of origin, vowing Nigeria will no longer tolerate repackaging of imported goods.

The government explained that under no condition would any good coming into the country from ECOWAS states have less than 30% local inputs.

It maintained that goods imported for Nigeria market must be escorted directly from the port of member states directly to the borders.
