The federal government has launched national patriotism campaign.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi at the launch called on Nigerians to become ambassadors of truth, combat misinformation and amplify the country’s progress and innovation.
The campaign is tagged: “My Nigeria, My Responsibility”, with the theme: “Reigniting Patriotism Through Responsible Citizenship and Leadership.”
Tinubu declared that patriotism was reflected in responsible civic conduct, especially tax compliance, which he described as “the most concrete transaction of trust between a citizen and the state.”
The President urged citizens to uphold the Citizens’ Charter of National Values which emphasised integrity, patriotism, diligence, tolerance and excellence – both offline and online.
“In the digital age, do not weaponise misinformation. Highlight progress, innovation and peace,” he said.
