Olubodun Sanni, a final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has been arrested for allegedly killing a fellow student of the institution, Ifeoluwa Adekunle.

The slain 300-level student in the Department of Economics was found dead in the pool of her own blood two weeks ago, in her apartment located off the campus of the institution.

Sanni, who is in the Geology department and lives near the residence of the deceased is said to be the killer.

He allegedly killed Ifeoluwa in order to rob her of her iPhone XR which was tracked and eventually traced to him.

On Tuesday while parading the suspect at the State Command, Ondo Commissioner of Police, Mr Abayomi Oladipo said, “One of the few achievements we want to showcase is the arrest of a murder suspect involved in the killing of a student of AAUA. On February 2, 2024, a case of suspected murder was reported to the police that one Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa, ‘F’, aged 20 years, a 300-level student of the institution, was found in a pool of blood at her off-campus hostel and was rushed to the university health centre and later referred to a Specialist Hospital in Ikare Akoko where she was confirmed dead.

“In the course of investigation, the police discovered that the deceased’s phone was missing. The police through the use of modern technology traced the phone to one Olubodun Sanni, ‘m’, aged 21 years, a final year student of the same school who is also a neighbour to the deceased in the hostel.

“The recovered phone led to further questioning of the suspect who gave details of what happened in his confessional statement, how he entered the deceased’s room, stabbed her on the chest with a knife and stole her iPhone XR.”
