At least four persons met their deaths on Sunday in Bauchi State in a stampede that occurred during an almsgiving exercise.

The occasion was the annual Zakat exercise, otherwise known as almsgiving, for the less privileged in the state undertook by Shafa Holding at the Jos Road office of the company.

Report said that along the line, the crowd became uncontrollable culminating in a stampede that claimed four persons’ lives while many sustained injuries in the fit of the rushing and hustling to have their shares of the goodies by the alms seekers.

“The exercise dissolved into crisis at around 10.20am following a stampede during which five persons became unconscious, four of whom died as a result while many are injured,” sources said.
