Eyewitnesses say a possible defect with brake may be a contributing factor in the death of an official of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Ojukwu Noble, who was crushed to death on Tuesday in Onitsha, Anambra State by a commercial bus driver.

Ojukwu(pictured) was on duty at the foot of the Niger Bridge in Onitsha when the bus, a Toyota Hiace with registration number: ATN 466 ZK driven by one Obiekezie Okonkwo, who is under arrest following the death he caused rammed into him.

Eyewitnesses said Okonkwo lost control of the bus and the vehicle badly hit the FRSC official who was rushed to Toronto Hospital. At the hospital, which is near the accident scene, it was said all efforts to revive 32-year-old Ojukwu who had lost consciousness, and sustained multiple injuries failed. He was later confirmed dead.

Meanwhile friends of the deceased on Facebook have posted their condolences on his wall.

One of them, Christian Omokhojie wrote: “Am Shocked and short of words over the death of gallant serving marshal, Ojukwu Nobel. Rest in peace.”

Another, Gabriel Adayi Adieu posted: “Adieu! Adieu comrade it quiet unfortunate you are sent back so soon. Sleep on Ojokwu.”
