There have been several attacks on indigenes of Ilaro in Yewa Ogun State by the deadly Fulani herdsmen.
The Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle stated this, saying his domain is under the siege of the killers, adding that not few farmers have lost their lives, cash crops and other valuable properties to the dastardly act.
Oba Kehinde Olugbenle while receiving the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, in his Palace at Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the state told the security operatives to create what he called, the anti-herdsmen menace squad, to tackle the menace of the herdsmen in his community and the country at large.

Oba Olugbenle, who is also the Chairman, Ogun Council of Obas, received Iliyasu in company with other traditional rulers in Yewaland, among them are the Olu of Imasai, Oba Gbadebo Oni, Olobi of Ilobi, Oba SaliuAjibade, Eselu of Iselu, Oba AkinyemiAkintunde, Alagbara of Agbara, Oba Jaiyeola Agunbiade and the Olu of Igbogila, Oba OlatunjiOlanloye.
Oba Olugbenle, who described his subjects as peace-loving people noted that the menace of the herdsmen deserve to be taken seriously, as many of the farmers incurred losses when their farmlands were ravaged with their crops destroyed.
The Monarch is his address said , “The menace of the herdsmen need to be addressed. It is a big challenge. Farmers in Yewaland have continued to experience attacks from the herdsmen.
“The herdsmen are always around during the dry seasons. Some of them would invade the farms with their herd of cow and watch them ravaged and feed on crops. Some farmers have been killed in the process.
“I want to call on police authorities to set up the anti-herdsmen menace squad, as they have done with the anti-robbery squad and anti-kidnapping squad among others.”
