Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has again called on the federal government to allow farmers to bear guns and defend themselves against Fulani militiamen.

Not few farmers and their families have been victims of the menace of marauding Fulani militiamen across the nation with Benue one of the hotbeds.

Ortom in an interview he granted newsmen in Abuja made the call again saying farmers are no match for marauding herders in violent contest.

“Farmers should be allowed to carry weapons commensurate with  the weapons herdsmen are carrying  about and killing people with .

“Let everyone have weapons so that we can face each other not when you have cutlass and dane guns to face someone with an AK 47,” the governor said.
