Mohammed Fawehinmi, son of the late human rights lawyer and activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, has wished that Senator Bukola Saraki is jailed for fourteen years.
Mohammed, who is condemned to life in a wheelchair after he sustained a spinal cord injury in a ghastly accident in 2009, expressed his wish of the senate president who is facing allegation of false asset declaration jailed on Wednesday at the 10-year anniversary marking the remembrance of late activist, Beko Kuti by members of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), who held a procession in Lagos.
He said: “I want Saraki to be jailed for fourteen years, so that his sentence can serve as deterrent to all those who have squandered our collective wealth.”
Last week, the Supreme Court quashed Saraki’s hope of wriggling out of the 13-count criminal charge the Federal Government preferred against him before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, when the apex court okayed his trial.
