Fugitive former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has received open advice from unexpected quarter on how to navigate his current problem.
Bello is facing prosecution at the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for alleged N84bn fraud.
He is accused of diverting the said sum, property of the Kogi government while he held sway as the state governor.
Consequently, the ex-governor has been perverting the course of justice by avoiding arrest in collusion with the incumbent governor of the state, Usman Ododo.
It resulted in the anti-graft agency declaring him wanted, the Nigeria Immigration Service placing him on watchlist and the Inspector General of Police withdrawing police officers attached to him.
Weighing in on the matter, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, urged Bello to turn himself in to the EFCC and “get a good lawyer.”
Onanuga gave this advice through his X handle.
“Yahaya Bello, where will you run to? It’s better you submit yourself to the EFCC and get a good lawyer,” the presidential aide wrote.
