The plan by Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu to have formal declaration of his governorship ambition today (Monday), at Eterno Hotels has been aborted.
Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki are having a rift arising from the former’s aspiration to succeed his principal.
Their fight peaked when the Deputy Governor dragged his boss and the State House of Assembly to court seeking an order to stop his impeachment.
Now, Eterno Hotels located at Government Reserved Area, Benin, and owned by a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state is said to have cancelled Shaibu’s booking and refunded his money.
The grounds for the cancellation, according to report was that a group, ‘Obaseki finishing well group,’ had earlier booked for the same venue.
It remains to be seen whether the event would go ahead as planned at another venue.
