Mowan Etete, a former aide of Gov. Neysom Wike of River State on Political Matters who defected to the All Progressive Congress, was killed alongside his elder brother, Ignatius, on Saturday during the election in Asarama, Andoni Local Government Area of the state.

Mowantan, a former local government chairman, and his sibling were murdered in cold blood at the slain council boss’ residence in Asarama.

Their killers broke into the building on Saturday morning by scaling the fence and unleashed terror on their victims via gunshots.

The apparently politically motivated killing has been confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni.

Omoni said: “Etete was in his house when unknown gunmen scaled the fence, entered inside the house and killed him and his brother,” adding that investigation into the cruel act was on-going.

It was learnt that Late Mowantan escaped assassination shortly before the February 16 elections were postponed.
