A senior official of the Kano State Hisbah Command, Sani Rano, has been arrested for allegedly having illicit affairs with a married woman, Maryam Ahmed.
Raino, who is in charge of Anti–Begging unit of the Sharia enforcement body, and Maryam were purported to have been caught in compromising position by officers of the Sabon – Garri Division of the Police Command.
Upon the covetous officer’s arrest, a committee was set up to investigate him, as per the State Hisbah Commander, Mohammed Haruna, in an interview with newsmen.
However, there were reports that Raino and Maryam were cousins and the latter was a victim of forced marriage that is in crisis.
She was said to have fled her matrimonial home and took up residence near the hotel where she was seen with the officer, who reportedly was trying to persuade her not to give up on her marriage.
