The Labour Party has alleged the All Progressives Congress of ill-use of the leaked phone call between its Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide.
The leakage of the controversial audio has been of pervading national interest, with Joe Igbokwe, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, hinting on Tuesday that another scandalous phone conversation of Obi is on the way by a Facebook post; “I heard with one ear that another unbelievable Telephone conversation is coming.”
The Labour Party by a statement its Presidential Campaign Spokesperson, Dr Tanko Yunusa issued, said the ruling party has weaponized the audio to blacken the former Anambra governor’s reputation in Mosques in the North, adding that ideally APC should be conciliatory.
“Despite the public denunciation of the fake audio call, its contents have been translated to other Nigerian languages and circulated in most parts of Northern Nigeria with some of our Moslem clerics deceived and instigated to use the contents for their sermons at various Mosques during the usual Friday prayers.
“This is a dangerous development at a time when the APC led-government and the APC party, which have been awarded undeserved and unfair victory should be more concerned in addressing the ethnic and religious frictions unfortunately created by the outcome of the elections,” Yunusa remarked.
