Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has assured his supporters that he would not go into exile in the wake of his loss at the poll.

Saraki sought re-election into the Senate to again represent Kwara Central Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, but met his waterloo in the hands of the All Progressive Congress candidate, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe.

It is believed that tough times await the Senate President, who is facing a slew of prosecutions including alleged conspiracy in the Offa bank robbery and multiple murders instigated by the government.

This may have given rise to fear among a cross section of his supporters who were afraid that Saraki may abandon them and fled the country to escape prosecution.

However, he allayed fear about the possibility of him going into self-exile at his Ilorin residence, Charity House at Iloffa GRA where he addressed his supporters ahead of the state governorship and House of assembly elections scheduled for coming Saturday.

His word, “I can’t run away. My covenant with my people transcends politics. I will never abandon my people. We should not fight. I leave everything to God. I will not fight even with those they declared winnners of the last weekend’s elections. We must cooperate for the governorship election. Once we do this, we shall win the election.”
