Daniel Bwala, former spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 2023 presidential election has pushed back at criticism trailing his bromance with President Bola Tinubu.
The latter had hosted Bwala at the State House and on queried by newsmen with regard the visit, the lawyer-cum-politician had declared his support for Tinubu’s presidency and hinted of the possibility defecting from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Consequently, his utterance drew him public’s opprobrium.
He appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics yesterday to speak to the issue saying in defence of himself, “Even ideology, you have the right to change ideology.”
He also said, “I informed Atiku Abubakar I was going to see the President. After I had seen the President, I informed him (Atiku) that I had just seen the President and he replied me that, ‘Thanks Daniel for notifying me’.
“It’s absolute nonsense for somebody to say because I said I will support President Bola Tinubu therefore I betrayed Atiku.”
