I wonder why people like me despite not being rich – Buhari


President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, said he always in awe of why he is a big hit with people despite not being a money-bag.

Buhari stated this at the Villa during the visit of a team of federal lawmakers led by their Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who came to hand him the report of the National Security Summit held on May 26, 2021 by the House of Representatives.

His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, gave account of what transpired between his principal and his guests via a statement he released.

Adesina quoted the President to have said that the country is lucky to remain a single entity in spite challenges, urging a mutual respects between leaders and followers.

Buhari reportedly added that he is irrevocably committed to serving Nigeria because of alleged reverence people have for him despite not being rich.

“The number of people that turned out to see me, some waiting for 10 hours in the sun, was more than anyone could buy, or force.

 ‘’They just wanted to see who this Buhari was. People wonder why Nigerians accept me, despite not being rich. I wonder, too. I felt I just have to serve Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of my ability,” the statement quoted him as saying.
