The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appealed to Nigerians to desist from posting improper behaviours by officers on social media.

Egbetokun made this admonition at the PPROs/Police Communication Experts’ Conference in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday.

Instead, the IG urged the public to direct officers’ misconduct to the Police Complaints Response Unit.

He noted that channelling grievances through social media often leads to misinformation and undermines the integrity of the police force.

“We appeal to the public not to resort to social media when reporting the conduct of police officers but rather use the Police Complaints Response Unit,” Egbetokun said.
