Former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, said the land area the Igbos occupied in the northern part of the country is bigger than the entire South-east.

Kwankwaso made this remark in an interview he granted wherein he condemned agitation for Biafra by a section of the Igbos.

“The Igbo have many assets in the North, may be, 10, 20 or even 100 times more than what the northerners have in the South-East including land itself. I have not done any survey, but, you see, maybe the land the Igbo are holding in the North is more than the South-East itself. So if you say you want to go, where do you go?” Kwankwaso said.

The ex-governor said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, may be driven by selfish motive to contest for election in 2019, and not the realisation of Biafra.

He said, “As I’m studying the body language, I wouldn’t be surprised, Nnamdi Kanu who is making this agitation, decides to contest election in the next political dispensation – that’s how so many of them started, they mobilise and, at the end of the day, they become heroes and champions and they will start championing their personal interest.”
