Chief Medical Director of the Imo State University Teaching Hospital,   IMSUTH, Dr. Chijioke Nzewuihe and his management team are currently enmeshed in a petty fraud scandal following allegation that they refused to refund patients their balance, after an initial deposit collected before treatment.

According to source who spoke to orijoreporter on the condition of anonymity this financial shenanigan came into existence under the new CMD, Dr. Nzewuihe and the people of Orlu and Imo people at large are grossly bitter about it. It is said that patients admitted into the hospital are forced to make an initial deposit before they are treated. And after their discharge, the hospital management would refuse to refund their deposit to them after their bills have been released and paid.

“A lot of people are queuing for months to collect their excess/ balance but the hospital management keeps telling them that there is no money to refund them yet. In an ideal situation, the balance/ excess should even be refunded to the patient before they are discharge because it is unspent money that is not part of the hospital bill.” An aggrieved ex-patient lamented.
