The police have been accused of killing Inspector Taiye Atobiloye, the deceased cop whose sad end occurred at a cell in D Division of the Kogi State Police Command recently.
Late Atobiloye was attached to the Kwara State Police Command and was posted to Kogi on special duty much to his displeasure, allegedly on health grounds having had a bad leg from an Okada accident.
By the account of the police, the late Inspector absconded from work for two days and was later found drunk, prompting his detention, during which he died inside the cell.
The widow, Oluwabukola, in an interview with Punchng threw allegation of torturing her husband to death at the police for refusing the posting, claiming he was also fleeced in the course of lobbying for reversal.
“Aside from the accident that he had that broke his leg, my husband was not sickly. Maybe he was poisoned or the cell was sprayed with chemicals.
“I want the world to know what they did to my husband. They collected a lot of money from him and tortured him to death,” the 47-year-old told the publication.
