A family source, who is in the position to know about the circumstances surrounding the death of Jide, said the deceased had complained of chest pain and died on the way to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where he was being rushed to.
“He complained of having chest pain and we put in a call to Dr. Ade Tinubu of General Hospital, Ikeja but he died on the way to the hospital,” the source recounted.
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over Jide’s death.
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement said Buhari spoke with Tinubu on telephone to condole with him, and pray God grants the Tinubu family, friends and associates “the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and comfort all who mourn the passage of the promising gentleman.”
