A bride has been arrested in connection with the death from food poison at her wedding in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The bride and one other suspect in police detention are believed to be behind the poisoning of the foods served at the reception which left one of the guests dead, and the groom critically injured and hospitalised.
Report making the rounds said the act was deliberate and out of malice.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, said of the incident: “We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception, leaving the groom critically ill.
“Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged food poisoning incident that occurred during a wedding ceremony in the state.”
