The mother of billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, Madam Omofemiwa Ramat Ibrahim, has died brutally at her son’s home at 3B8 Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos.
The 78-year-old said to be a catholic, was killed by fire at the wee hour of Saturday at around 1.00am.
She, according to report, lit a prayer candle when going to bed but the light from the candle along the line caught inflammable materials erupting into serious fire which spread through some parts of the building.
Following a distress call, officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the State fire service arrived at the scene. However, when the dust settled as the fire put out, the losses recorded included the septuagenarian mother of the billionaire, who lost her life to the inferno and was confirmed dead on the spot.
“When got there, the fire was well alight. We recovered the woman with the joint efforts of LASEMA officials, who took away her corpse. What we gathered was that she always had prayer sessions, and maybe in the process, she lit a candle and slept off,” Director, Fire Service, Musbau Rasaq, told newsmen.
