A staff of Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Mrs. Joy Oluchi Osuchukwu has died of electrocution while fetching water for domestic use.

Mrs. Osuchukwu, who was a widow, and hailed from Umunze community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State unknowingly stepped on the naked cables in front of Udoka Hall, Water Works Road in Abakaliki.
The deceased was said to be 40-year-old .
Her demise threw her neighbours and relations into mourning mood with some blaming officials of Ebonyi State’s Ministry of Power for it, claiming they abandoned the naked cable carelessly.
The residents claimed they pleaded with the electricity workers to cover the naked cable when they came to work in the area that same day before the incident happened but to no avail.
“The woman was electrocuted at 8:30pm, it was dark so she didn’t know there was naked cable. During the day when electricity workers came around we asked them to cover the cable but they promised to come back for it and left,” a resident of the area told newsmen.
