A former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), is seeking probe of Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa and her husband, Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa over the latter’s comment.
Senator Bulkachuwa had at the 9th assembly valedictory service in apparent self-congratulation dropped hint of influencing his wife, ex-president of Appeal Court who retired from service in 2020 after clocking the statutory retirement age of 70 years to favour his political colleagues with judgments.
“Many of my colleagues, have come to seek for my help when my wife was President of Appeal Court. I must commend her tolerance for encroaching on her freedom and independence while she was in office. She has been tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended it to my colleagues,” he said.
To Agbakoba, the Senator’s comment should not be glossed over and the couple deserve facing investigation, urging President Bola Tinubu to act on Senator Bulkachuwa’s slip up.
The ex-NBA President made this call by twitter, tweeting, “Senator Bulkachuwa’s statement at the Valedictory of the 9th Senate is a monumental disgrace for our institutions. This man deserves to be taken up immediately by the authorities.
“It is a blight on my confidence in our systems. I represented Usman Tuggar in relation to disputed elections between him and Senator Bulkachuwa for Bauchi North senatorial. We lost in three courts.
“Senator Bulkachuwa seems to suggest why President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT must cleanse the system in a most dramatic and fundamental process, if he wishes to succeed.”
