The Lagos State Government on Saturday outlined the requirements that must be met before the index case in Nigeria’s coronavirus palaver, an Italian expatriate, would be discharged.

The State commissioner for health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, while speaking to newsmen at the Mainland Hospital facility where the patient is secluded gave an update on the patient and touched on what it would take to discharge him.
Abayomi said: The patient has been with us for two days now. He arrived here on Thursday and he has been on supportive treatment and he is actually doing very well.
“As soon as we get a negative screening, then we will keep him for another two or three days and repeat the test to make sure there are no more virus particles in his saliva and that means he will not be contagious again, then we will release him back into the community.”
