The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, made this known on Friday while addressing the operators during which he said the measure was taken to distinguish between genuine ones among them and the criminal elements using the job to perpetrate crimes.
Imohimi  advised all Okada riders in the state to register with either Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State affiliated or the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the National Motorcycle Owners and Riders’ Association, adding that any unregistered operator caught plying Lagos routes would be prosecuted.
He said, “If you want to be a commercial motorcycle operator in Lagos State, you must belong to either NAMORAL or MOALS. All commercial motorcycle operators are, as from Tuesday, expected to have been registered. Motorcycle operators must wear reflective vests designed by the unions with their names and numbers.”
