The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, is facing accusation of causing the death of a Bureau De Change operator, Modibo Usman.

Late Usman, a father of eleven, died at Foremost Radiology Consultant in Surulere area where he had gone to pick his medical test result alongside his son, Mustapha, on Friday.

Leading up to Usman’s demise, Punchng said, LASTMA officers had ridden in his car with him and his son, Mustapha, forced to sit at the back. They were alleged of breaking traffic rule that as to do with traffic light on their way to Foremost Radiology to which the deceased pleaded for mercy on health grounds that bordered on heart problem to no avail.

It was also alleged that the traffic officers said to be two demanded N50, 000 bribe, and refused all entreaties to the point of crying by late Usman that he was rushing to pick his result and from there would be heading to Lekki to see his doctor.

Instead, the officers reportedly took the driver’s seat from Mustapha and drove them to Foremost Radiology where they later fled in the car.

“When we got to the hospital, we quickly rushed to get the test result to show them so we could continue our journey to see his doctor at Lekki but the officers and the vehicle were nowhere to be found when we returned.

“Instantly, my dad suffered a shock and collapsed. I quickly alerted the nurses where we picked my sister’s result and they rushed to attend to him and confirmed him dead,” Mustapha told the paper.
