A policeman, ASP Danlandi Umar, has been accused of beating a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official, Rasheed Akande, into coma on Wednesday.

ASP Umar, who is attached to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Alagbon, Ikoyi, report says was in mufti and was a passenger in a commercial bus, LASMA official Akande arrested the driver for flouting traffic laws at Igboefon Roundabout.
The driver had earlier escaped arrest but LASTMA men at Chisco Bus Stop arrested him after getting signal from their colleagues at Igboefon.
The driver’s arrest was said to have angered ASP Umar as he told officials of LASTMA that no law enforcement officer can apprehend a bus he is a passenger in.
In the ensuing altercation, it was said ASP Umar beat LASTMA Akande into a coma, and handcuffed him.
