The Victor Oko Jumbo-led Rivers State House of Assembly has demanded the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct elections in the 27 constituencies represented by the Martin Amaewhule-led House.
The Assembly has been in disarray and polarised following the war of attrition between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike.
The Jumbo-led House loyal to Fubara has written a letter to INEC requesting for elections in the 27 constituencies occupied by Wike’s loyalists on grounds of defection to the All Progressives Congress, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
They also cited a court order declaring the seats vacant following the carpet crossing.
The request was made public by Punchng citing the factional leader of the House, Sokari Goodboy as saying, “We have already written to INEC when Edison Ehie, was the Speaker.”
