LIRS Chairman, Zubair

Some staff of the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) on Monday openly accused the management of ill-treating them.

The aggrieved staff left the LIRS headquarters in Alausa marching for government secretariat and the State House of Assembly to air their grievances, according to thegazellenews.com, whose correspondent witnessed the moment.

The publication said, the protesters complained of being denied promotion as at when due and not incentivized despite being the ones that are generating a large chunk of the state’s money in tax collect.

It quoted one of them as saying, “We generate the highest revenue for the state government but it’s a shame that the LIRS management has been treating us with contempt.”
