Information exclusively gathered by OrijoReporter revealed that Melaye spent seven years in ABU studying Geography instead of the usual four years.
His failure to graduate in good time was said to be due to some carry-overs he had and the crisis in the school then.
Information gleaned from several sources revealed that the senator who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had many others like him who either because they were not academically sound or were distracted by extracurricular activity to the point that their academic suffered in the same boat.
At a point, they became a problem to the school, and were stoking crisis leading to the regular closure of the school.
However, late Major-General (retired) Mamman Kontagora restored peace to ABU when he was appointed by the then Head of States, General Sani Abacha as the school’s sole administrator.
It was said that Kontagora conducted special exams for all students who were having problems to graduate due to their failures to pass some courses.
It was gathered that Melaye(pictured above wearing blue short) benefited from Kontagora’s magnanimity to graduate from ABU with third class.
Meanwhile Melaye on his twitter handle, @dino_melaye, on Thursday shared a group of picture of some youth corpers and wrote under it, “ABU 99 set at NYSC camp in KD. Me in blue short.”
