A frustrated lover who was denied sex by his mistress for three years after showering money and gifts on her was yesterday arraigned before an Ijeshatedo Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged attempt to set his lover’s apartment ablaze for refusing to sleep with him during their uneventful relationship.

The suspect, Sunday Ishiaku hails from Borno State while his mistress, Kadijat Saga is a Togolese and both reside around Idi-Araba where Kadijat’s house is located at 14, Bamishile Street.

Ishiaku who was yesterday docked before Magistrate Abegunde Davis is facing a two-count charge of breach of public peace and attempted arson preferred against him by the police.

It was alleged that Ishiaku who was livid with anger following Kadijat’s refusal to sleep with him stormed her apartment with a four litre petrol can and threatened to set the house ablaze but was prevented by neighbours who overpowered him and handed him over to the police.

The defendant claimed that Kadijat refused to sleep with him after collecting his money for the three years they were together.

The complainant, on her part, said she did not consider Ishiaku as her lover and was only accommodating him in her house without attaching anything to their relationship.

She said she was surprised when her neighbour called her on phone to inform her that the defendant broke into her room with the intention of setting it ablaze.

Ishiaku pleaded not guilty to the charges, even as the complainant informed the court that she would want to settle the matter out of court.
