One Wali Haruna, a resident of Suleja in Niger State, has been arrested over a pro-nationwide protest post on Facebook.
Report said Haruna in series of Facebook post rallied people to participate in the planned protest.
The call was made by the Facebook user in Hausa language, with one of it reading: “Protest is possible in Nigeria. We support the motion. Let’s go ahead.”
The posts however, brought trouble on him as he was arrested at his house in Kabula area in Suleja on Friday, and subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Minna.
The spokesman of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed Haruna’s arrest and justified it in an interview he granted saying, “Wali Haruna of Suleja was invited on July 26, for questioning having shared protest materials on social media. He is being interrogated for being suspected to be inciting the public to protest and to ascertain if he belongs to any group of individuals planning to protest and to find out the mode of such protest for proactiveness.”
