A man, identified as Akpos, has reportedly burnt his wife, Risikat, to death at their residence in Ayide Osolo Street, Divine Estate, in the Ijanikin area of Lagos State.
Punchng published the dreadful news. In it, the full gist of what transpired between the couple, leading up to the distasteful act by Akpos was sketchy.
However, the report said, they were having altercation and along the line he fetched a container of petrol, emptied it on the wife and set her ablaze.
Afterwards, the killer husband reportedly fled the scene, and is still on the running as the police have launched a manhunt for him.
“A case was reported at the Ijanikin Police Station that a woman, Risikat, 48, allegedly had an altercation with her husband and in the process, he poured petrol on his wife and set her ablaze.
“It resulted in serious bodily burns and she was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment but she died. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing husband,” the publication quoted state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, as saying.
